Job Description As a Development & Research Engine Test Technician, you will support engineers in technical investigations covering current and future products, components, materials, and processes. Pay Rate: 18.93 per hourShift Pattern: Shift premium applied also.24/7 Shift pattern.4 Nights - 2 days off - 3 days on - 2 days off - 3 nights on - 2 days off - 4 days on - 8 days off.The whole cycle is 28 days in which you work 14.The OpportunityAn exciting opportunity has arisen within a Global Engine Development team at a major engine research and manufacturing facility in Peterborough. This team plays a critical role in the development, validation, and certification of new engine products, as well as supporting existing platforms.As a Development & Research Engine Test Technician, you will support engineers in technical investigations covering current and future products, components, materials, and processes. This is a hands-on role focused on engine test execution, data quality, and operational excellence - ideal for someone looking to build deep technical expertise in engine development and testing.About the EnvironmentThe site designs, tests, and manufactures 0.5L to 18L engines used across a wide range of applications, including marine, industrial, power generation, and rail. Sustainability and future-focused energy solutions are central to ongoing development programs.Additional InformationApproximately 85% test bed operations and 15% training, development, and continuous improvement activitiesShift working requiredSelf-motivation and strong teamwork skills are essentialWhat You'll Be DoingWorking in line with the organisation's Health & Safety policies and safe systems of workFollowing documented procedures to ensure safe, accurate, and defect-free engine installations into test cellsConnecting test measurement equipment and services to enable high-quality data collectionLiaising closely with engineers responsible for engine test programsDiagnosing and resolving faults on engines and test cell equipmentMaintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment in line with 5S and TPM principlesSupporting continuous improvement and value stream projectsUndertaking training and development to enhance technical capabilityDesirable ExperienceEngine or mechanical diagnostic and fault-finding experienceBackground in motor vehicle maintenance or engine testingCompletion of an engineering or motor mechanics apprenticeshipRelevant work experience and some form of higher or further technical educationApplication GuidancePlease ensure your CV clearly demonstrates how your qualifications and experience align with the criteria outlined above.
