Please only apply if this applies to you.Founded in 2015, Tower Group delivers construction, refurbishment, and remediation projects across a variety of sectors, including MOD, rail, public sector, major loss insurance, and other regulated environments.We typically deliver projects ranging from 50k to 3m, The business has experienced consistent year-on-year growth, with a strong forward order book into 2026 and beyond. Most projects are based across Essex and Greater London.We are now at a key stage of growth and are looking to introduce our first in-house Quantity Surveyor to establish and lead the commercial function.The RoleThis is a senior, hands-on position suited to an experienced Quantity Surveyor who is confident operating autonomously and building commercial processes from the ground up.As our first QS, you will take ownership of the commercial and cost management function, supporting live projects while developing systems, controls, and procedures that will underpin the next phase of the companys growth.You will work closely with the Commercial Director, Pre-Construction Manager, Contracts Managers, and Site Teams, playing a pivotal role in both project delivery and early-stage planning.This role would suit: A Senior QS / Intermediate seeking autonomy and influence, or An experienced Project QS ready to step up and lead a divisionKey ResponsibilitiesCommercial Leadership & Process Development Establish, review, and implement commercial and QS processes aligned with company growth Develop cost control, reporting, and forecasting systems suitable for a growing contractor Act as the commercial lead across multiple projectsProject Commercial Management Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and monthly cost reports (CVRs) Monitor costs against budgets, identifying risks, opportunities, and variances Prepare monthly progress valuations and final accounts Measure and value works, variations, and change control Manage subcontractor accounts, valuations, and paymentsProcurement & Contract Administration Lead subcontract procurement: enquiries, analysis, negotiation, and orders Prepare and review contractual documentation Chair project mobilisation meetings Draft and issue contractual notices including EoTs, loss & expense, and delay noticesPre-Construction & Cost Planning Support the pre-construction team in early-stage cost planning, feasibility studies, and benchmarking Assist with tender reviews and value engineering exercises Liaise with design teams to ensure designs align with approved budgetsCollaboration & Reporting Attend design team, progress, and subcontractor meetings Work closely with site teams to identify commercial risks and efficiencies Provide clear commercial reporting to senior management and external stakeholders Provide feedback to the pre-construction team and assist in developing a fully cyclical processAbout YouYou will be commercially astute, organised, and confident operating in a standalone QS role, with the ability to influence, challenge, and improve ways of working. xjdpvnf Essential Proven experience managing all commercial aspects of construction projects Strong understanding of subcontract management, cost reporting, and procurement Experience working for a main contractor or developer Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities HNC / Degree qualified (or qualified by experience) Proactive, honest, and solution-focused approach Knowledge of various contract forms, in particular JCT & NECDesirable Experience within public sector, rail, defence, or regulated environments Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and compliance requirements MRICS / MCIOB qualified or working towards Experience contributing to business improvement or process implementationWhat We OfferAs a family-owned business, we value loyalty, trust, and long-term relationships.
