With a well-established reputation for excellence in our field, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dependable Finance Officer to oversee day-to-day financial operations, support the smooth running of the business, and contribute to the effective financial management of archaeological projects.This role is well suited to a flexible and capable individual who thrives on variety and responsibility, and who would welcome the opportunity to work closely with the business owner/director to consolidate and develop the company to its full potential. The position is part-time, working 15 hours a week.The RoleYou will be the main point of contact for finance, working closely with the Director, Project Manager and our external accountant. You will take ownership of the core finance tasks and help ensure that the management team has accurate, up-to-date financial information.Key ResponsibilitiesManage day-to-day bookkeeping, including purchase and sales ledgersRaise invoices, track payments, and follow up outstanding debtsProcess supplier invoices and paymentsProcess and manage expense claimsCarry out regular bank reconciliationsMonitor cashflow and highlight any issues earlyPrepare monthly financial reportsComplete VAT returnsMaintain organised financial records for year-end and HMRCWork with external accountants and advisersAssist the director and project manager in tracking performance across projectsAbout YouEssential:Experience in a bookkeeping, finance, or accounts roleComfortable working independently and taking responsibilityExcellent communication skillsStrong attention to detail and good organisational skillsConfident using accounting software (primarily Xero) and ExcelPractical, flexible, and happy working in a small team environmentDesirable:AAT qualification or working towards oneExperience in a small or owner-managed businessKnowledge of payroll and/or pensionsExperience of working in a project orientated environment and/or knowledge of managing project financesWhat We OfferFlexible working hours where possibleFriendly, supportive working environmentOpportunity to shape the role and grow with the businessNEST pension with 6% employers contribution30 days holiday inclusive of bank holidaysHow to ApplyPlease apply with your CV and covering letter. xjdpvnf We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all backgrounds.
