Role Profile - Senior Safety Consultant Based in Warrington. Contract role for 12 months. Qualifications and Experience The following requirements are presented as guidance they are desirable qualities however candidates are not expected to be competent in all skills. The requirements are presented to both enable competence discussions and to support the setting of objectives to allow individuals to determine their career path. Entry Level Requirements: 1. Bachelor Honours Degree (minimum) in relevant Science or Engineering related discipline 2. Minimum of 5 years demonstrable knowledge and industry experience of a range of nuclear facilities 3. Demonstrable experience of contributing to Safety Case documentation, for example: a. Hazard Management Strategy b. Radiological Safety Assessments c. Attendance at, and production of HAZOP Reports d. Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs etc.) 4. Demonstrable understanding of the ALARP Principle 5. Demonstrable knowledge of ONR Safety Assessment Principles Fully Competent Requirements: 1. Demonstrable performance at entry level with further evidence to substantiate the above experience 2. Demonstrable experience in supporting the development of junior staff 3. Demonstrable experience in verification of peers' reports 4. Further participation in HAZOPs, for example as Secretary 5. Demonstrable awareness of other safety case related disciplines and associated legislation 6. Awareness of engineering disciplines and their importance to safety case production Typical Responsibilities Responsibilities will be in line with the level of expertise described above and may include the following examples: Project Delivery As part of a team, providing the nuclear safety input to design projects, ensuring that nuclear safety requirements are considered Managing delivery for the work allocated Producing calculations, analyses, design basis documentation and technical reports Ensuring adequate communication with the relevant Engineers Participating in Hazard Identification studies Support production of the safety submission Identifying project risks by highlighting safety items to the Technical Lead Producing technical Scopes of Work Feeding back lessons learnt for use on future stages of the project This role falls inside IR35.
