Job Description

On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a GDPR & DSAR Information Management Lead (Inside IR35) for a 3 months until 28/03/2026 contract based REMOTELY . The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. The Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. More information about the Cabinet Office can be found on its website his is an exciting time for the team as we are seeking to make significant changes and improvements to many aspects of how we work and the service we provide, especially investigating new technology available and how this can increase efficiency. You will also be joining the team as it prepares for an increase in activity and responsibility. You will be joining an expanding team who provide a dedicated and expert function in processing SARs. The team has a strong customer service culture, providing a key service across CO so the ability and expertise to build strong professional relationships on both an individual and team basis is very important. Close liaison with individual Business Units is vital to meeting our performance indicators and there will be opportunity to develop this further. The role is important as it ensures that we adhere to the UK GDPR requirements on Data Subject Rights and ensure that we issue the right information at the right time, by responding to requests in full and within statutory timescales As a GDPR & DSAR Information Management Lead your main responsibilities will be: Oversee the DSAR processing team, ensuring compliance with statutory timelines and UK GDPR requirements. Review and approve high-risk or sensitive DSAR cases, determining exemptions and disclosure decisions in line with legislation. Act as the senior point of contact for Business Units, NAO, and internal stakeholders, providing expert advice on data privacy and compliance. Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation and technology adoption, to enhance efficiency and accuracy in DSAR handling. Maintain and update GDPR-related policies and procedures; deliver training and guidance to upskill staff and embed best practices. Monitor compliance performance indicators, manage escalations, and ensure robust audit trails for internal and external reviews. Essential: In-depth knowledge of UK GDPR and Data Subject Access Requests (DSAR). Proven experience in data redaction, data extraction, and handling sensitive information. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with experience in governance and assurance frameworks. Active SC Security Clearance. Desirable: Familiarity with Thunderbird data management system. Experience in digital transformation or automation within data privacy functions Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
