Our Independent Travel Service plays a vital role in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to access education safely and reliably.About The RoleWe are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented SEND Transport Officer for a fixed term period of 6 months to join our Croydon Transport Service team. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing transport arrangements for SEND pupils, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and safeguarding standards. This is a key role in delivering a service that is safe, efficient, and responsive to the needs of families.Key Responsibilities Plan, arrange, and monitor transport for children and young people with SEND in line with Croydon Council policies and legislation. Act as the main point of contact for parents, carers, schools, and transport providers, ensuring clear and timely communication. Monitor contract performance and ensure providers meet safeguarding and health 'safety requirements. Respond to queries, complaints, and incidents professionally and promptly. Maintain accurate records and support budget monitoring to ensure cost-effective service delivery. Contribute to service development and continuous improvement initiatives. Essential Skills & Experience Strong organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of SEND legislation and transport policies. Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant IT systems. Previous experience in a similar role within local authority or education settings is desirable.
