Joining Breedon means becoming part of a team that values excellence and is committed to making a positive impact.Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail orientated and highly organised Transport Planner to provide customers with the highest standards of customer service ensuring that we effectively plan, schedule and coordinate deliveries meeting customer promises in full and on time. You will be accountable for optomising transport routes, ensuring timely and cost-effective distribution of goods whilst guiding the Distribution Coordinators to enable effective and optimal plan delivery, coaching them to provide customers with an excellent experience from the moment they place an order to the delivery of the product and beyond.Key ResponsibilitiesBuild and maintain a forward view of haulage and production capacity and work with the Transport Manager to enhance capacity and vehicle availability and service levels dailyWork collaboratively with Operations, Transport and Commercial Teams to optimise distribution plans on the day(s) prior to deliveryAct as the point of contact for Operations and Transport to communicate production disruptions as a result of plant breakdown, driver absence etc., sharing with the Commercial Team to enable them to proactively manage customer expectationsIn response to changes to the plan (caused by customer circumstance, production availability etc), respond to changes by communicating changes proactively and look across the area/region to identify opportunities to minimise impact on customerFacilitate and guide Distribution Coordinators to respond to changes in the plan caused by customer circumstance, production availability etc, minimising impact across the areaEnsure compliance with transport legislation, including driver hours, weight limits, and health 'safety regulationsSupport the development of Distribution Coordinators and implementation of distribution KPIs and continuous improvement initiativesAnalyse declined orders to understand opportunities to enhance capacity to produce/deliver productAnalyse lost volumes (cancelled or reduced orders) and share repeat occurrences of customer cancellations/reduced orders with the Commercial TeamImplement and embed changes to ways of working in line with Customer & Commercial Excellence initiatives.EssentialSkills, Knowledge and ExpertisePrevious experience in distribution planning, transport coordination, or logistics operationsKnowledge of logistics, transport regulations, and planning best practicesStrong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.Understanding of routing, vehicle capacities, and cost-efficient load planningGCSEs or equivalent (minimum)Excellent organisational and time-management skillsStrong attention to detail and problem-solving abilityEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work under pressure and adapt to last-minute changesCustomer-focused approach with a commitment to service excellenceTeam player with the ability to work independently when neededAnalytical thinker with an understanding of cost and service trade-offsDesirableFurther education in logistics/supply chain is desirableFamiliarity with transport regulations and health 'safety requirementsBenefitsA tailored, competitive salaryCompany Pension Scheme25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays on topShare Saver Scheme participationCompany Life Assurance SchemeAccess to our Employee Assistance Programme for health and wellbeing supportDiscounts on a wide range of products through our employee benefits platformBroad learning opportunities and career progression pathways.Diversity Statement:At Breedon Group, we are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued.
