The primary purpose of this role is to operate and manage various test stations to ensure full functionality of customer lasers following repair. The successful candidate will work within the Service Department to verify performance, identify failures, and support both diagnostic and repair activities when lasers do not pass test. Key Areas of Responsibility: Operating multiple laser test stations and completing full functionality testing of repaired lasers. Recording all test results accurately within Sunrise and other relevant IT systems. Supporting diagnostic investigations for lasers that fail test, including fault finding and root cause assessment. Carrying out repairs as required, including fibre handling and splicing activities, following defined procedures and repair work instructions. Assisting the wider Service team with both repair and diagnostic workflows as demand requires. Identifying and reporting defective parts and liaising with the Quality team as necessary. Ensuring all test equipment is used correctly, maintained appropriately, and issues are escalated when required. Keeping the work area tidy, organised and compliant with health, safety and ESD requirements. Continually evaluating and applying best practice to improve throughput, quality and efficiency. Required Experience: Essential: Experience working in a technical test environment or similar engineering test role. Proven ability in fibre handling and fibre splicing (cleaving, stripping, preparation and splicing). Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to diagnosing failures. IT literate, with good working knowledge of Excel, Word and general data entry systems. Willingness and ability to understand how fibre lasers operate, with a view to diagnosing and resolving failures. Preferable: Hands-on experience with lasers, optics, fibre optics or electronics. Use of common test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, power meters, digital multimeters. Previous experience supporting repair or service operations Qualifications: HNC or equivalent in a suitable engineering or science discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience through alternative technical qualifications or hands-on industry experience.
