Role Overview Our client is seeking a highly capable, creative, and commercially aware Chef Manager to lead the catering operation at a large secondary school in the Sunningdale/Ascot area. This is a flagship site with a strong emphasis on fresh, innovative cooking and exceptional service delivery. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership, support menu development, manage a sizable catering team, and take full responsibility for compliance, financial performance, and customer satisfaction. Location: Ascot Area - SL5 Salary: 38,000 per annum Weeks: 42 Hours: 45 Shift: 07:00am 16:30pm Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Team Management Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of catering professionals to deliver an outstanding service. Manage staffing rotas, performance reviews, and on-site training. Ensure team culture reflects professionalism, efficiency, and hospitality excellence. Culinary Leadership & Menu Development Produce fresh, nutritious, and innovative menus tailored to the secondary school market. Ensure menus meet nutritional guidelines, seasonal availability, and compliance with school expectations. Run promotional events, themed days, and initiatives that drive student engagement. Compliance & Food Safety Maintain a Grade A audit environment at all times. Ensure compliance with all legislation including HACCP, allergen procedures, Kosher/Halal requirements where applicable, and company policies. Maintain rigorous kitchen documentation and ensure safe working practices. Financial Accountability Manage site budgets, ensuring cost control, margin management, and accurate forecasting. Maintain robust stock control systems and oversee supplier relationships. Identify opportunities to improve financial performance without compromising quality. Skills & Experience Proven experience as a Chef Manager in a large education or contract catering environment. Exceptional leadership, communication, and people-management skills.
