Job DescriptionRole OverviewOikos are seeking a committed and safety-conscious Shift Operator to join our Operations Team at our Upper Tier COMAH fuels terminal in Canvey Island, Essex, UK. This is a hands-on role responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the terminals systems and equipment involved in the receipt, storage, and distribution of bulk liquid fuels.The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong focus on operational discipline and safety, with the ability to work effectively as part of a shift team in a high-hazard environment. You will play a key role in ensuring that terminal activities are carried out in line with operational procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesEnsure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained at all times throughout the site and stop any activity that fails to meet these standards. Report any such deviations from these standards as appropriateCarry out all operational tasks to ensure terminal operations meet predefined schedules.Monitor all operational equipment and report any defects immediately.Maintain site security standards and report any deviations from these standards.Ensure Control of Work system is applied as required by site policy, specifically in relation to preparing and isolating plantUnderstand where procedures are applicable and ensure they are followed and/or challenge if a procedure is no longer applicable to the operationTake responsibility for site operations during shift, communicating directly with colleagues, customers, external logistics colleagues (e.g. ships crew, road tanker drivers etc) security and contractors as requiredEnsure a smooth handover takes place to maintain continuity of operations between shifts.Conduct Audits and inspections as required.Essential ExperienceExperience within industrial settings.Ability to use computer based control systems.GCSE or equivalent standard English, Mathematics and Verbal ReasoningAbility to work at height.Understanding of safety and environmental legislation applicable for the industry.Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.Computer literate with experience in using HSEQ systems and Microsoft Office.Desirable ExperienceExperience within bulk liquid storage industry.Previous experience in oil storage or oil refining industry.Ability to understand technical drawings e.g. P&IDsWhat We OfferCompetitive salaryAnnual leave incorporated into Shift PatternPension Scheme (5% employee + 10% company contributions)Private Medical InsuranceEmployee Assistance ProgrammeOpportunity to work in a safety-critical, high-profile COMAH facility.A collaborative and supportive working environment where safety is at the heart of everything we do.How to applyPlease submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and suitability for the role viaLinkedIn.
