Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing exceptional patient care. This position involves assisting with various tasks related to eye examinations, eyewear fittings, and laboratory duties. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and have some laboratory experience. Duties Assist optometrists during eye examinations by preparing patients and ensuring all necessary equipment is ready for use. Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, colour vision tests, and intraocular pressure measurements. Help patients select appropriate eyewear based on their needs and preferences, providing guidance on frame styles and lens options. Maintain an organised workspace, ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and sterilised according to health and safety regulations. Keep accurate records of patient information and appointments while ensuring confidentiality at all times. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and concerns in a professional manner. Qualifications Knowledge of optomerty Previous experience in contact lenses Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively. Good communication skills to interact with patients and colleagues professionally. Ability to work well in a team environment while also being self-motivated when required.
