Were seeking a Laundry & Sewing Industry Instructor to lead a busy, hands-on workshop that blends traditional prison laundry operations with meaningful textile projects all with the goal of rehabilitation, skill-building, and preparing individuals for employment beyond custody This unique workshop space accommodates up to 35 individuals and combines: Laundry services for the prison Textile work supporting local causes (e.g., making tote bags for a local hospice) Partnerships with local businesses for applying logos to workwear Clothing repairs and other hands-on tasks Youll take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including: Supervising and motivating a team of prisoners in laundry and textile production Setting clear schedules and performance targets Promoting a safe, structured, and supportive work environment Supporting skill development and work-readiness through the Employability Passport Managing stock, tools, and materials while maintaining security protocols Contributing to reports and prisoner rehabilitation plans Encouraging personal growth, accountability, and restorative practices What Were Looking For Experience in laundry, textiles, garment production, or a similar hands-on industry Previous supervisory, instructor, or training experience Strong organisational and time-management skills A focus on health & safety and compliance A proactive, people-first mindset Experience in a custodial or secure environment is a bonus but not essential we provide full training and support This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference, helping individuals build confidence, gain skills, and prepare for life after prison.
