Cleanroom Manager – (Nano/Microfabrication – Semiconductor Research)Competitive Salary Excellent Pension 34 Days Holidays + Bank HolsGenerous Sick Pay Benefits Flexible / Hybrid Working (3 Days On-Site)Excellent Career and Personnel Development Schemes Superb Food, Drink and Gym Facilities on-siteParking and close to major road and rail networksWe are seeking a Clean Room Manager to oversee the development, implementation and management of staff, resources and facilities to ensure a Research Technology Environment meets the appropriate legal requirements, standards of performance levels in all the services it delivers and remains internationally competitive.The role will be responsible for the organisation and management of the instrumentation and ensure that it delivers internationally competitive nano and micro fabrication resource for the research community. It will also provide information and advice on service delivery and experimental considerations to all current and prospective users of the facility. Responsibilities Responsible for the line-management of staff in relation to the research technology platform including performance management, employee welfare, training and mentoring.Co-ordinating and managing the daily activity of the instruments and users within the unit to ensure that the requirements and objectives of the researchers using the facility are met, including allocation of activities to space, fault reporting managing maintenance, contract cover and ordering equipment and consumables.Develop standard operating procedures for the facility and provide the necessary level of training for user groups as well as conducting and co-ordinating appropriate technical training on the use of the technology platforms, for all staff and researchers, delivered either in-house or through external sources.To control and adhere to legal requirements, relevant licensing and certification, to comply with regulated experimental procedures ensuring they are in-line with legislation and best practice, and to maintain appropriate standards of record keeping, whilst also keeping abreast of future legislative changes.Maintaining data to demonstrate the future pipeline of work including both existing and pending projects together with an estimate of future own funded demand (to inform the annual five-year planning process).Develop a service level agreement that will meet the user group expectations through establishing key performance indicators that will measure staff performance.Develop and maintain effective user relations both internal and external, acting as the delegated customer contact in meeting their service delivery requirements and technology expectations.Manage and optimise the effective use of the technology in terms of access, capacity, contractual commitments, managing collaborative relationships and customer/scientific conflict.To ensure full compliance with relevant statutory health and safety regulations and that safe working practices are embedded within all activities through relevant guidance, risk assessment, COSHH, safe systems of work and the monitoring of health surveillance.To co-ordinate, implement and monitor rigorous maintenance schedules that meet inspection criteria and legislative requirements and liaise with manufacturers and providers where necessary.Contribute towards the development of a revenue plan and the generation of new income by leading specific agreed activities and new initiatives that may include external and international collaborations which provide additional support funding.RequirementsMaster’s degree in physics, engineering, chemistry or materials science or equivalent experience.Strong experience in the design and operational knowledge and experience of cleanroom facilities, with proven ability to work in a semiconductor laboratory environment for high purity semiconductor materials.Experience in conducting a wide variety of experimental techniques and procedures.Previous experience in the design, development, building, setting up, operation and/or repair of specialist processes/experiments to a detailed specification, and/or work from professional diagrams and apply specialist technical solutions to complex problems.Excellent interpersonal skills with relevant experience of working independently and as part of a team to build effective relationships.Operating Procedures and Risk Assessments and instruct others in their use.DesirableAdditional qualifications in Nano/Microfabrication (proof of training on specific instruments).Additional qualifications in Cleanroom Technology (proof of training on specific instruments).For more information please contact Pete.Hampshire@ with your latest CV
