Reporting to the Head of Group Pensions, the roleIs central to embedding responsible investment principles across all assets.Classes, with a particular focus on climate change as a systemic risk.The successfulCandidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, includingThe Finance for Systemic Change Centre, the Cambridge Institute forSustainability Leadership, and trustees of the University's pension schemes.This is a strategic, high-impact role suited to someone passionate aboutSustainability, governance, and long-term value creation.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & StrategyDevelop and deliver the Systemic stewardship strategy across multiple pension schemes.Align stewardship Activities with fiduciary duties, regulatory requirements, and Sustainability goals.Represent the University's Stewardship profile nationally and internationally.Investment OversightLead responsible Investment aspects of asset manager selection, monitoring, and engagement.Conduct ESG due diligence and influence external managers.Implement stewardship approaches across asset classes including private equity, fixed income, and alternatives.Reporting & EngagementOversee statutory reporting and disclosures related to responsible investment.Engage with scheme members and stakeholders to promote transparency.Lead University-level and industry-level collaborations on systemic stewardship.Skills & Experience RequiredEssentialProven experience in systemic stewardship, ESG, or responsible investment.Strong strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills.Ability to lead complex programmes and influence senior decision-makers.Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.Strong analytical and project management capabilities.DesirableExperience working with trustees or within pension schemes.Knowledge of UK pension regulations and ESG reporting frameworks (e.g. TCFD, Stewardship Code).CFA, CFA ESG Certificate, or similar investment qualification.Experience in diplomacy or collaborative engagement with financial institutionsHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
