Hours of Work: 7.00am to 4.00pm or 9.00am 6.00pmFlexible rota (40 hours per week)Some Evenings and Weekends when required for School events Salary: 26,000 - 28,000 per annum, Depending on Experience Pension: Group Save Contributory Pension Scheme Purpose of Job We require immediately a hard-working, honest, self-motivated multi skilled site operative. Your role will be to skillfully perform maintenance and repairs and to ensure that all students, staff, and the community are provided a safe, clean, and healthy environment for learning and work. General Duties and Responsibilities Overall security of the school premises include opening and closing, unlocking and locking of windows, doors, school gates and buildings Open and close the school for evening use at times arranged by the Estate supervisor. Register as main Key Holder and be the first point of contact in an emergency call-out situation Perform general maintenance and repairs including: doors, ironmongery, windows, toilet seats and flushes, furniture, painting and decorating of walls and doors. Ensuring that external rubbish is stored appropriately, preparing the general waste and recycling bins for pick-up Cleaning and tidying of the internal school building in designated areas - as per plan during the school day as necessary. General porterage duties and moving of furniture Preparation of Halls for functions as required Delivering goods and supplies to appropriate departments Noting, monitoring and reporting any defects in the school buildings, furniture, fittings and equipment to the estate supervisor and dealing with as appropriately. Monitor and oversee the work of contractors working on site Assist with all preparation works and tidying up for school events as directed by the Estate supervisor. Make recommendations for improvement in the effectiveness and efficiency of the maintenance department. Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, and an effective work ethic. Carry out school compliance checks as directed by the estate supervisor / Manager and maintain register as appropriate. Grounds Maintenance Upkeep of drains, clean low level gutters, clean external lights and cctv cameras Keep all hard surfaces free of moss and weeds Keep outside areas free of litter, sweep passageways Heating, Lighting and Water The switching off of all lights and electrical items Ensure that all lights and heating are working effectively Monitoring and setting of heating controls and boilers Be aware of the location of all stopcocks, gas and electricity meters and read meters as required. Replace light bulbs, fluorescent tube starters and fluorescent tubes Carry out Legionella testing and reporting.Any other work requested by, and deemed appropriate by the Estate supervisor / Estate Manager.This job description is not exclusive or exhaustive. Person Specification Qualifications Construction or Building certification or demonstrated experience; Relevant Health and Safety Certificates; Building skills certification Other qualifications which may be relevant to the post Skills and Experience Being able manage crisis situations; Being reliable, honest and practical; Communicating effectively in both verbal and written format; Skilfully making general maintenance repairs Following health and safety regulations; Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate grooming, and an effective work ethic.The school does not have a licence to sponsor migrants under the worker or temporary worker routes.
